About Us
Jeff Hirsch Books has a large inventory and we specialize in art, photography, architecture, literary first editions, poetry, drama and signed books. We have seemingly innumerable broadsides, exhibition catalogs and art and photography magazines. We are also increasingly focused on ephemera related to the arts.
I’ve been buying and selling books since I was a teenager. I grew up in a household that cherished books, with both of my parents being readers and rare book collectors. In 1993, after graduating college I started selling rare books full time.
Susan worked for over 10 years in the new book business in various positions at Barnes & Noble booksellers and quit her job to come work with me full time in 2007.
We issue catalogs and exhibit at numerous book fairs throughout the country.
We are proud members of the ABAA, ILAB and MWABA.
Members of the ABAA (Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America) promote ethical standards and professionalism in the antiquarian book trade.
From the ABAA website regarding the ABAA Guarantee & Code of Ethics:
As the oldest association of professional antiquarian booksellers in America, we have a reputation to uphold and we require our members to follow the Code of Ethics. Membership in the ABAA cannot be obtained simply by paying a fee or signing an agreement. Before being considered for membership, booksellers must prove that they are established, knowledgeable, and of excellent reputation. Prospective members must be sponsored by current members, and undergo a rigorous screening process. The average ABAA member has been in the antiquarian book business more than twenty years.
